JUNK MUSIC DAY!
We had such a fun time exploring the musical sounds that some recycled items and household things make--like recycled coffee tubs, cans and beads, and even kitchen gadgets like cooling racks, tongs and pots/pans!
Thank you so much to the parents who sent in items for students to share in class. The kids really enjoyed doing that!
As you can see below, each classroom not only explored a variety of items and their sounds, but I also made an instrument for each classroom to keep out of a large recycled can, beads taped to the outside, and a duct taped handle. Check the video and pictures below to see them and how they were made--you can find one in your student's classroom's music center!
Older students also discussed the difference between chanting and singing today, and we performed several favorite songs and fingerplays. See what YOU can find around the house tonight to make music with--your children will love it!
Have a wonderful week and see you next week for...JULY! Wow! It's almost here already...

JUST A REMINDER:
Our school age music classes have moved to Thursdays, at 10:15 a.m.-10:45 a.m.for the summer! We are currently working on a very cool recording project that you can read about on the music calendar for this month! Because of our new schedule, I will now be posting the PREVIOUS week's music class pictures and notes in the weekly blogs; therefore, you will be hearing about our classes a few days after they happen. I apologize for the gap, but it seemed to be the most reasonable way to continue bringing you music updates!
SCHOOL AGE UPDATE (From class on 6.21.12):
We are currently practicing our new prayers for the worship CD! Please enjoy this preview of one of our songs (just a practice recording, not our "final" project") that is a little sneak peek at one of the fun prayer chants!
