DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW...

This week in music class, we enjoyed our Christmas song sing-a-long!!! It was an easy recipe: take a room full of young children, add bells, a guitar, and some good ol' Christmas tunes!

Ask your child what their favorite song was! Thanks to Miss Holly for leading Monday's four's and toddler class! They sang some standard Christmas tunes and also worked on some of the songs Miss Bev has been working on in Growing in Grace!

Tunes we sang with guitar on Tuesday include: Jingle Bells, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, Silent Night, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and more!

For the next two weeks, JN Music will be on a holiday break. =) See you again for class the first week of January--next year!

WRENCH XYLOPHONES!

This week in music class, students discovered different types of xylophones! We looked at small metal xylophones with rainbow-colored keys, a xylophone made of colorful metal tubes, and a wooden xylophone! As our final project, we assembled a xylophone made of metal wrenches!

The wrenches were arranged in size from large to small and balanced on a xylophone frame with rubber pieces to help them stabilize while they vibrated. We played them by using a mallot and it was interesting to hear their different pitches! The kids enjoyed moving them around and talking about the other uses for wrenches.

Check out the extender questions below to refresh your child's memory on what they learned this week! =)

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHILD

1) How many keys did the rainbow xylophones all have? Eight!

2) What type of tool did you use to make a xylophone in music class this week?
