Triangle Fun!

Well, my attempts to tell the children that I had new eyeglasses and earrings were fruitless...they knew what a triangle was! Ha! I was impressed with how well they held the triangles on a string after I explained that the instrument must be able to vibrate freely to produce sound. In fact, we experimented with this during a song that placed the triangle on the ground to mute it!

We also did the "triangle hokey pokey" and practiced going round and round with the triangle and "striker"--the metal rod that is used to strike the triangle with. We discovered that the triangle can actually be quite loud!

1. How do you hold the triangle? By the string!

2. What will happen if you touch the metal while the sound is ringing? It will stop vibrating--and stop making sound!

Week of November 13th, 2017

DO YOU KNOW...

How to entertain a large group of preschoolers for hours on end? The answer is simple: get a parachute!!! We sang parachute songs last Thursday and OH BOY were there a ton of giggles! The kids especially loved getting underneath the parachute as teachers made it go up and down chanting, "Way up high, way down low! Up to the sky, down to your toes!"

Music classes are switching to Thursdays! 

You child will now have music class at the same time as previously, but on Thursday instead of Tuesday. The change was a little more functional for the Joyful Noise office as I also work one day a week doing communications tasks, but I am also looking forward to seeing some kiddos that I may not otherwise have for music class!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week, and we'll see you for music class next Thursday, November 30th as we explore triangles!
