We're Going To Hawaii!
May 13-17
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! We took a fun, imaginative trip to the state of Hawaii this week. Everyone was so excited to wear his/her own colorful traditional neck lei, and some chose to try on a Hawaiian grass skirt to practice hula dancing (time/age permitting)! They saw several photos of gorgeous native flowers of the land and practiced a few rhythmic beats on a small set of hand drums. The kiddos learned that the Hawaiian word aloha means both "hello" and "goodbye!" Finally, the children had a chance to explore, hold and strum the ukulele before singing uplifting Hawaiian songs together!
