First Week of Music!
Our first week of music classes was successful and I think we all had a lot of fun! Each age group was given roughly the same lesson, but a little bit of tweaking did happen towards the end of the week. With the Infants we sang a few standard nursery rhymes including the "Itsy Bitsy Spider". We also sang movement songs that included clapping, tapping and stomping while we assisted them in doing the movements.
With the Threes and Fours we started by attempting our first Greeting Song to get our ears and voices warmed up. We read the book Music for Me which incorporates a lot of rhyming. We did some standard nursery rhymes (including Slippery Fish!) as well as movement music. During "Clap, Clap, Clap Your Hands" we used patting, clapping, stomping and wiggling movements. They LOVED to sing "Hurry Hurry Drive the Fire Truck" where we pretended to put out a fire. We also practiced our forwards/backwards and fast/slow counting by singing "1 Little, 2 Little, 3 Little Bubbles".
With the Toddlers and Twos we did the same fun activities but we also included rhythm sticks to tap out some of the music in Music for Me, as well as counting all of the bells found in our lady bug bucket to the song "Bell Count Down"! Each group also worked on reciting our Goodbye Song shouting After a while Crocodile! at the end to introduce call and response.
*I apologize this week for the lack of photos and appreciate your patience as I continue to get the hang of things.
