ALL ABOUT THE FIFE!

The fife is a simple little woodwind that is cousin to the flute and the piccolo, but has no keys! The kids enjoyed hearing me play this instrument and compare it to the recorder. I also showed them a home made fife that I made from a small PVC pipe! 
     We discussed how the fife is often used in marching bands and also as  music accompaniment for military bands many years ago. We practiced marching with a drum and also listened to this drum and fife music to get the feeling for it:


We also played a cute little singing guessing game called "Handy Dandy". Check out the video from the two's class at the 
bottom of the post!
