MUSICAL STATUES!
The awesome picture/pose above was a result of fun movement game today, "Musical Statues"! I brought some music with me and the kids practiced freeze dancing, with a little bit of a twist; the pause in music lasted longer, and I walked around inspecting who was the best "statue". I leaned in to observe, raised my eyebrows, wiggled my fingers around them and attempted to distract them and create giggles but I must say-we have some pretty impressive statues around. =) Each child got a turn to pause and unpause the music for their friends and a good time was had by all! This was a great listening activity as well as music and movement. Make sure to check out the questions below and ask your child about their experiences!

The Baby in the Cradle
The baby in the cradle goes rock, rock, rock
(pretend to rock a baby)
The clock on the dresser goes tick, tick, tock
(arm goes up and down like the arm on a clock)
The rain on the window goes tap, tap, tap
(tap arm with opposite hand/fingers)
And when the sun comes up we give a
CLAP CLAP CLAP!
(Make a large circle or sun motion with arms and then clap three times).
