SCHOOL AGE MUSIC CLASS:
This week in music class, we were introduced to the xylophone and it's parts, along with a resting and playing position for mallots. We designed music folders for our names and worksheets, which stay at school and are commented and worked on between the students and I!
We've also learned about the music staff, the treble clef (which designates the clef of music, and tells us whether the music will be in a higher or lower register), the 4/4 time signature, quarter notes and quarter rests.
Questions you can ask at home:
--How many lines does the music staff have? (Five).
--What is the curly symbol at the beginning of the music staff? (Treble Clef).
--Does the treble clef tell us that the music is higher, or lower? (Higher).
--How many beats are in a measure? (Four).
--How many beats does a quarter note represent? (One)
--How many beats does a quarter rest represent? (One)
--What do we do on rests? (Remain quiet)
