Welcome Back Music Class!
April 8th-12th, 2019
Miss Christie has completed her first week of 2019 music classes with all the kiddos! Each age group experienced a slightly different teaching level, but all children were able to play the same instruments.
We started off our first week of music
class by practicing our listening skills.
To celebrate the new spring season, infants and toddlers read the book, Hello,
Spring! by Mary Packard. We then spoke the colors of the rainbow in unison, according to the color on each desk bell or resonator bar. We also counted the total number of instruments. Everyone was shown how to play each instrument, and
each child had a chance to play both the resonator bar and the desk bell. The
entire room often sounded like many wind chimes all at once!
Children ages two and older read the book, Wake Up, It's Spring! by Lisa Campbell Ernst. We listened for every time the word "spring" was mentioned. We used a set of multi-colored desk bells and resonator bars to ding every time we heard the word "spring."
They also learned the names of the solfege symbols which were assigned to each pitch. Finally, we played an audio/visual game to practice memory of colors, patience/self-control and fine motor skills. All age groups had a blast!
