All About Nik West on Bass!
March is Women's History month! To celebrate, we've looked at women composers and musicians this month, and we're ending on a bang with the creative and talented funk bassist and singer, Nik West!
The kids absolutely loved checking out Nik and her amazing bass skills today, along with her stylish outfits and groove while playing this low stringed instrument, which the children learned typically has four strings and makes very low tones. (Three and four year olds have a coloring sheet coming home in cubbies!).
Not only did we look at pictures of Nik, but we also enjoyed watching her play and talk via her Youtube channel. Check out the awesome video below of her playing Michael Jackson's dance song, "Get on the Floor!" We also watched her explaining several bass finger exercises. One in particular was called "The Spider."
Thanks for reading and make sure to check out the bottom of the blog post for your extender questions!
