Learning About Clara Schumann
This week in music class, as we celebrate Women's History Month in March, our students learned about the famous female pianist and composer during the Romantic Era, Clara Schumann! Born in Germany in 1819, Clara was also married to Robert Schumann. For 61 years, she performed her compositions as well as others as a concert pianist.
We listened to her music and I drew a bench piano for the children, talking about its parts. We also drew pictures of things that Clara's music reminded us of, and reviewed the tempo terms "Presto" and "Largo" from last week!
