The winners of our jingle bell bottle challenge--finished putting all of the bells into the bottle at the fastest speed of all of our students--21 seconds!
BELLS ARE RINGING!
We had a lot of fun this week exploring all types of bells--from cowbells to jingle bells! Some of the bells were very small and a few were much larger! We took turns passing shakers, single bells tied on strings and even jingle bracelets as we sang a few fun Christmas bell tunes.
We also got a little "fine motor" practice with a jingle bell bottle challenge: I took a box of medium to small jingle bells and instructed children from toddlers and up to use their pincer fingers to pick up one bell at a time and place it into a water bottle! Our toddlers were very carefully supervised while doing this; they each put one bell inside. Everyone did a fantastic job!
Two year olds each put a handful of bells in the bottle (ask your child how many!) and our three and four year old class had a race with partners to see who was the fastest! Our reigning champions are pictured above--they crossed the finish line at 21 seconds which was the fastest of all of our friends!
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHILD
1) Did you shake jingle bells?
What was your favorite--small or big? Did they sound different?
2) How many bells did you put in to the water bottle?
(Toddlers: 1, Twos: 3, Threes and Fours: The whole box with a partner or two)
3) For three and four year olds: what was faster, one friend putting bells in to the bottle, two friends, or three?
We found that three friends were the quickest at putting the bells in, but four friends were a crowd. We found out it took four friends longer to put the bells in together than it did three partners!
