SCARVES AND VINYL!

Yahoo! We did some scarf dancing today and it was so much fun! We moved our bodies to the music, which was supplied by my handy, dandy suitcase record player! I showed the children all about records today and how they make sound, and we inspected my little travel record player and it's inner workings. Some of you may know that I am a big vinyl collector (it's our preferred method of listening to music at home) and I have quite a large collection! I brought a record from each decade through the 1960's-1990's today for children to listen to. It seemed like a perfect fit, as our schoolagers are currently in the "Decades" theme for their class!

For the 1960's I played the children The Ventures Pyschedelics (a popular instrumental cover album in 1967), along with Abba Voulez-Vous (1979) for the 1970's, Madonna self-titled for the 1980's and Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars for the 1990's.

They loved dancing and watching the turntable spin! Check out the questions below and have a great Tuesday!

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHILD TODAY:

1. How did you move with your scarf?

2. Do you know how a record player works?

3. What was your favorite record in music class today?
