200th Blog Post! Week of May 19th, 2014

What a blast!!!

Today marks the 200th blog post for the Joyful Noise Christian Childcare Music Blog! Yahooooo!!!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for, first and foremost, sharing your children with me each Tuesday. Spending time with them, playing instruments, singing and learning about culture is an absolute pleasure and highlight of my week!

When I began the blog four years ago in 2010, I had a goal set in my mind of posting each and every time that I taught classes here at Joyful Noise. Why? Because I wanted to connect with parents; I wanted to share all the fun things that we were doing and also encourage extended learning at home with resources, questions for parents to ask children, and extra ideas on continuing concepts beyond class.

I'm proud to say that for four years, I have blogged each and every music class that I've ever taught. Thank you very much to all of the parents who have read and commented, and an exceptional thank you to our director Miss Sally and the staff at Joyful Noise for always supporting my attempts at blogging with assistance in photography and the allottment of time just for writing each week!

So, how did we celebrate today? We enjoyed the disco ball in Fellowship Hall as well as glowstick bracelets, glowing bouncy balls, fun dance music (Kidz Bop Pop Hits) and of course, nice cold drinks when we were done. Ask your child what their favorite part of the day was! Infants explored the glow balls in their room with the lights off and also had fun with bouncing and peekaboo songs. =)

As always...THANKS FOR READING!

Celtic Dance Party!

CELTIC DANCE PARTY!

Check out the pics below from our Celtic Piccolo Dance Party!
Today we learned about the piccolo and got to handle one as well as hear it being played! As some of you may know, flute and piccolo are my master instruments and I've played since a very young age in orchestra. We also looked at pictures of other Celtic instruments and had a fun "freeze dancing" session wherein whomever froze the stillest got to wear the shamrock necklace for the next round! When the kids were tuckered out, they sat at the table to color shamrocks, rainbows over pots of gold, and Celtic traditional Bodhran drums. Your child of 2 years or older also came home with a fun party favor whistle today! Check out this video of one of the fun Celtic "reels" we danced to earlier:

100th Post!

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a lovely Tuesday! It's the week of March 5th and I'm so excited to announce that today marks my 100th blog post! It's hard to believe that I don't have more entries, being that this year marks my tenth year at Joyful Noise, but my first blog post was almost two years ago exactly!

In honor of that accomplishment, we had a SUPER FUN DANCE PARTY in fellowship hall today! The kids very much enjoyed wearing fun bead necklaces, glow in the dark bracelets, and dancing to music in the dark. We also played some games and enjoyed punch at the end of our dance session!

Thanks again for reading my blog, entrusting me with the care of your wonderful children, and being such a great group of supportive parents and families! Have a great week and here's to 100 more blog posts!

Infant and toddlers enjoyed playing the musical donut game today, along with singing and reading "The Bear Went Over The Mountain" and other favorites with guitar! We also enjoyed stickers today in celebration of the 100th post! Both the infant and toddler groups sit impressively well for music and cry when it is over. This makes me feel sad and glad at the same time! Haha! :)

After we were done with our dance party, we enjoyed some punch!
