HOT CROSS BUNS!
And other fun with rhythm sticks!

Boy, these kiddos sure do have a knack with rhythm! I was so impressed with how well even the infants did with controlling their rhythm sticks! Toddlers, twos, threes, and fours all played Hot Cross Buns quite well on the rhythm sticks and had a fun time playing softly, loudly, slowly, quickly, and resting!

We tried Hot Cross Buns as well as some other rhythm tunes, and had fun pretending to be horses as we used our sticks to "trot," "gallop," and "run!" The kids also used their sticks and hands to clap name syllables. We found out how many clicks it would take to say every student's name!

We also enjoyed moving our bodies and the four-year-olds had a lot of fun doing a "rhythm stick march" around the rec room.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHILD

1) How many syllables does your name have? Let's say it while clapping!

2) Can you show me what slow and fast clapping looks like? How did you use your arms to play the rhythm sticks in music class today?
