Fun with rhythm sticks!
It's so much fun to use the rhythm sticks to learn about rhythm! Our students did a wonderful job this week safely using the rhythm sticks--high five your child for keeping their sticks safe, and no noggin bumps! ;) We learned how to play, rest, and sing along as we practiced different tempos, name syllables, and the famous "Hot Cross Buns!"

We also practiced tempo in a fun way! I told the children about my recent visit with my sister's horse, Bo, and we practiced playing our sticks in a "walk," a "trot," and a "gallop!"
You can easily make some rhythm sticks at home with popsicle sticks or even chopsticks. As your child to tap out the syllables for their name, or another word, like their favorite food or cartoon character! Music so easily transcends into learning language and math.

2) Do you remember what makes a bun a "hot cross bun?" (In music class, we talked about putting the "cross" shape on the top with a knife!!)
