Mango
Treats!
We had a
change of plans this week! Our washtub bass project has been rescheduled for
next month, and instead, we had some fun singing “Mango Treats”—a movement song
about a monkey in the jungle. The kids jumped in and out, played the conga
drum, and also learned a little about why peek-a-boo is an important learning
game for infants! No matter how “big” the kids get, they still enjoy playing
the game themselves. ;) However, they were fascinated by our conversation about
object permanency, and what infants are actually learning about when they play
peek-a-boo with parents and caregivers.
Our school
age class played the Mango Treats song on their xylophones using “C” and “F”,
with half notes, quarter notes, and quarter rests. They also had fun playing rhythm
solos (written on our dry erase board) with the conga drum. Ask your school age
child about reading music!!
