AFRICA AND STORYTELLING!
This week in music class, we learned all about the amazing continent of Africa! We looked at pictures of traditional African dress, the famous musician King Sunny Ade, and African landscape.
We also talked about some interesting Africa facts including the largest animal in the world (African Elephant), the fastest animal in the world (cheetah) and the tallest (giraffe). Hats off to the three year old class who guessed each one of these animals correctly on the very first try!
We practiced the art of storytelling through dance and words, and I told the children a funny and true story from my childhood about a goat. Ask them if they remember! ;) We tried a little interpretive dance, explored the drum, and talked about the tradition of oral storytelling and myth.

Last but not least, we enjoyed listening to Baba the Storyteller artfully tell the tale of the non-traditional princess who found a frog! =) Don't forget to read the extender questions below so you can keep the conversation going at home with your little one!
