\THE CLASSICAL GUITAR AND LIONA BOYD
Today students enjoyed learning all about the differences between electric and classical guitars! Not only did we observe a very talented female classical guitarist (check out the Youtube videos of world famous Liona Boyd below), but we also used magnet boards to recognize and sort electric vs. classical, along with watching how a classical is restrung with nylon strings!
Important concepts from today's lesson were:
---Classical guitars have a body style shaped like a number "8" and also have a sound hole, and plastic--or nylon--strings.
---Electric guitars have different body styles and metal strings, and can be plugged in to an amplifier to create a louder sound.
---Liona Boyd is a very talented classical guitarist who uses her fingers to play. She is very fast and very talented! She almost always wears a big fancy dress while playing--it is somewhat of a signature for her.
Younger students enjoyed not only looking at pictures of classical and electric guitars, but also movement songs and "Old McDonald Had A Farm" with finger puppets. The farm was downright tropical today--see if your child from the Toddler or infant class remembers what animals they saw! (Frog, lioness, Macaw, monkey, and lizard!
