It was a festive day in music class today as we explored a short video I made for the students after visiting a First Presbyterian Youth Bell Choir practice!
The kids enjoyed watching and listening to the hand chimes and we also had a blast exploring different types of hand bells (like desk bells and jingle bells) at the table.
We also did a little writing and graphing today in class. Each child received a square of paper with three pictures on it: one hand chime, one desk bell, and one jingle bell. The instructions were to circle your favorite bell, though some of our students circled all three because they couldn't choose between their favorite. I don't blame them! I love the sounds of all three bells, too. :) The overall favorite on our graph were deskbells, beating out the other two varieties by about 10 votes.
Please check out the video below the pictures from class, or view as a family later to start a great conversation about music and the holidays. I filmed it right upstairs in the First Presbyterian Sanctuary last week, and I think you'll enjoy hearing the lovely hand chimes. The youth choir is doing such a nice job with Christmas tunes already!
COMING SOON: Check for news on a "Year In Music Class" Dvd fundraiser I will be doing as we approach December. It would make a great stocking stuffer for your little Joyful Noiser and it will include the entire year's video clips from music class. We will be selling them for a very reasonable price to raise money for the music program and new instruments! Our full sets of instruments are rather affordable. Last year, with two generous donations we were able to purchase two full sets of instruments (enough for twenty or more children) for only around $80!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
