INFANT THROUGH SCHOOL AGE
Songs about leaves! This week in music class we had fun singing lots of songs about the changing leaves outside, and how they blow in the breeze. Try a few of these fun Autumn songs with easy tunes, below!
LEAVES ARE FALLING DOWN
(To the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell")
The leaves are falling down
The leaves are falling down
Red and Yellow, Orange and Brown
The leaves are falling down!
THE LEAVES ON THE TREE
(To the tune of "The Wheels on The Bus")
The leaves on the tree sway back and forth (sway your body)
Back and forth
Back and forth
The leaves on the tree sway back and forth
All through the town!
Continue with:
----The leaves on the tree fall down, down, down (pretend to fall to the ground)
----The leaves on the ground go crunch, crunch, crunch (stomp feet as though you are crunching through the leaves!
SCHOOL AGE SONG WRITING WORKSHOP
We had a lot of fun writing an Autumn themed song today together!
Our process started with some mindmapping. I asked the children for simple 1-2 word ideas that came to mind when they heard the word "fall".
Here is what they came up with!
Then, we worked together to come up with a basic framework that fit a pre-existing tune, "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean".
After hearing the original song, the kids felt that the pumpkin fit the best. One of our students observed that "My Pumpkin" could replace "My Bonnie." Wow! Great thinking! =)
MY PUMPKIN
My pumpkin is round and it's growing
My pumpkin is orange as can be
My pumpkin is getting quite ready
Can somebody pick it for me?
Cut off the top
Take out the seeds
Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween
Put in a light, give us a fright!
My pumpkin's the best that I've seen!
